Maine in the summertime is the essence of quintessential New England charm. This adorable couple (seriously guys, they are so cute) had one of the sweetest weddings we’ve ever seen and we’re so excited to be sharing every detail of their special day! With so much natural beauty surrounding them at every turn, the bride & groom decided to keep the flowers and decor tasteful and understated. Her bridesmaid’s stunned in blush-toned maxis while the bride wore a beautiful lace bolero over a wedding gown that might as well have been made just for her! Our personal favorite part of the day is the couple’s first look – which proves this intimate moment can be even sweeter than the “I do’s”. Get inspired by all of the charming details here:
How did you choose your wedding venue & location?
"Harrison and I wanted to find a wedding venue that was not only a destination spot for our family and friends during the wedding weekend, but also a place we could visit together in the future. Having both vacationed in Maine when we were younger, we agreed that this would be the perfect place and wanted to find a venue that captured the state's quintessential seaside charm, offering views of the water, onsite accommodations, access to beaches and the natural landscape, and local food options. We stumbled across the Chebeague Island Inn while researching coastal venues, and immediately planned a trip to visit the island the following day. It was love at first site - we knew it was the perfect spot the minute we stepped off the ferry."
How did he propose?
"After a two week tour through the UK to celebrate finishing graduate school, I flew to Paris to meet up with my family, who had flown in from the States for a brief vacation. We all arrived at the hotel and immediately took off on a walk towards the Louvre. My mom was being a little suspicious, not letting me use the map on her phone to help us navigate - turns out, she was texting with my now-husband Harrison, who was secretly waiting in the Tuileries Gardens. Unbeknownst to me, I kept trying to redirect us towards the museum and away from where he was! My little sister hijacked the walk and redirected us towards the Eiffel Tower because she was so 'excited to see it,' when all of a sudden we walked up towards the road, and Harrison was walking towards us. I didn't even recognize him at first because I would never in a million years have expected to see him there, and I remember thinking, who is this cute boy?! He got down on one knee, and the rest is history. Not only did he completely surprise me, but this was also his first transatlantic flight! Spending our first few days engaged and together in Paris will always be a very special memory for us."
What was your favorite moment of your wedding day?
"Hands down, our first look. It was a quiet moment that we were able to share with one another before the craziness of the day really took hold, and it felt almost as if time stood still. First looks can be polarizing, but I am so happy we decided to do it. Seeing one another alone and away from everyone really afforded us the intimacy to live in the moment and just cherish being together - I wish we could stay on that beach in the sun forever!"
Where was your honeymoon?
"We spent a few days relaxing on Chebeague Island following our wedding - we were so exhausted! We are currently planning for our honeymoon this summer and will be travelling to the UK and Portugal for a much needed vacation!"
What advice do you have for other brides?
"Have fun and don't sweat the small stuff. There are so many details that go into planning a wedding, but the happiness and love that we felt that day far outweighed any of the stress we had felt leading up to it. Soak it all in and enjoy the moment because it all goes so fast!"
